About the Photographer

Ever since I was a little girl with an instamatic camera, I have enjoyed photography. I also had an interest in science, so after high school, I trained to be an x-ray technician, which in some ways is an artistic outlet as well. I am still an active technician, but am now also doing photography, which is my true passion.

My earliest subjects were often landscapes and wildlife, but as the years went by, I realized that small details, often overlooked, can be just as engaging a subject as the larger picture. This revelation led me to shift my focus to reflect the beauty in God’s creations that are likewise, often overlooked. Segments of aged wood on tired, abandoned barns and houses, ancient architecture – particularly windows, doors, and knockers- are particularly inspiring favorites of mine. The old cities in Europe hold a special appeal for me, and often, when visiting those cities, I find there are too many doors and not enough time.

My interest in small details naturally also led me to an interest in macro photography. I can get lost on a beach taking close-up shots for hours, and totally lose track of time. On one occasion, I was so completely absorbed in the details on a sandbar, that the tide snuck up on me and I had to wade back to shore.

I have my photography displayed in several offices in the lower mainland of BC, which is where I live.

In addition to my personal art prints and photographic greeting cards, I also offer photoshoots with families and pets, as well as collector cars – the latter I often incorporate into large collages. I have also produced several artistic images using an X-ray machine.
